Tucked away on a private lane amidst glorious Peak District scenery, Underleigh House is a Bed and Breakfast of exceptional quality. This former cottage and barn, dating from 1873, has been tastefully converted and is the lovely home of Philip and Vivienne Taylor. There are six bedrooms - with en-suite WC and either shower or bath - and a large comfortable lounge where guests can relax with a drink after a day out walking.

Breakfast is served in 'house party' style around the oak refectory table in the charming beamed and stone flagged dining room.  On offer is an outstanding full breakfast or a wide choice of alternatives for the smaller appetite or vegetarians.  Underleigh House is the proud winner of Derbyshire Foods 'Best Breakfast' Award.

Underleigh holds the prestigious 'Five Stars' for guest accommodation. This is further endorsed by VisitBritain's 'Gold Award' and the AA's recognition for memorable breakfasts, the 'egg cup' accolade. Repeatedly recommended by independent publications such as the Good Hotel Guide, the Which? Guide to Good Hotels and the Which? Good B&B Guide, Underleigh was selected as one of the 'Editor's Top 20' in the 2004 Which? Good B&B Guide. Underleigh won the Gold Award (Best B&B) at the East Midlands Enjoy Excellence Awards in 2006. Underleigh also holds a Peak District Environmental Quality Mark and is a member of Peak District Cuisine.

Evening meals are not available at Underleigh but numerous eating places in Hope, Castleton and Hathersage can be recommended.

Underleigh is set in a quiet location off the road to Edale, about 1 mile from Hope's historic village centre. Nestling under Losehill, it is in the heart of the Peak National Park. It is easily accessible to the area's major attractions including the show caverns and village of Castleton and the stately homes and manor houses of Chatsworth, Eyam, Haddon and Hardwick.

All rooms have superb views over the surrounding countryside or over the garden which, in summer, abounds with colourful tubs, hanging baskets, roses and fuchsias.

Magnificent walks are available from our front door... Philip and I can point you in the right direction and we can also supply the maps.
We look forward to welcoming you in the very near future to Underleigh.

All bedrooms, thoughtfully decorated and with  beds, duvets and soft furnishings of high quality, are en-suite with either shower or bath.  Colour television (with DVD), tea and coffee making facilities, radio alarm clock, hairdryer and many other extras are provided to enhance your stay. There is a library of DVD's for guests to use free of charge. Every room has spectacular views over the surrounding countryside or over our delightful garden.

Breakfast is taken in the beamed dining hall, with its flagstone floor, antique furniture and teapot collection! A variety of herbal, fruit, green and breakfast teas are available, as well as cafetière coffee and decaffeinated options. As winners of Derbyshire Foods 'Best Breakfast' Award, specialities of Underleigh House include our own recipe muesli, porridge cooked overnight in the Aga, several fruit compôtes and  numerous home made preserves.  We bake our own white and granary/wholemeal breads using flours from Caudwell's Mill. The tasty sausages, eggs and black pudding are all local, as are the soft Derbyshire oatcakes (a traditional delicacy specific to the area).  The menu  features poached haddock for fish-lovers and there is plenty of scope for vegetarians. Special diets can be accommodated if advised in advance.
